no "Caution" yet, it simply returns to the shouted "Alligator" refrain & then ends
You might ask where is the famous "Midnight Hour"? The answer is that I have not a clue :
2) J. Wise's further flaw notes to BUDD, 3/00:
it takes several minutes for the mix to come together in the beginning,
Schoolgirl is cut @: 10:43, Viola lee is cut @ both ends, the sound
quality deteriorates towards the end of the alligator jam
3) Note the famous Rio Nido Midnight Hour- whether played 9/3 or 9/4/67-
is on the Phil Zone CD anyway.

Several shn vines were seeded with Tracks listed as 1, 2, etc. for the MAC naming
convention. The md5 signature will match that found at the Hamilton shn circ site.
Just edit the names.

Track 4: Minor fade-outs for first 30 sec., worst @00:22

All in all, a very enjoyable ride.

Right out of the chute
The 2:27 mark of Dancin' when the singing stopped and the song was deconstructed and built back up as a jam--> this is where Dark Star riffs were created.
Its right there hidden in plain sight. Listen to it as a whisper. The roadmap was laid out this night.
Highest rating for the historical significance.

These were the famous shows that Robert Hunter attended, writing the first verse to Dark Star and becoming official lyricist. Apparently it was hearing this version of Alligator that made him realize "I was the missing link, I knew it. It was my lifework - I knew it." (1/7/92 Joel Selvin interview per Taping Compendium) An extraordinary show. Famous for the Midnight Hour but I give the nod to Viola Lee.

Dance hall '67
the Gtfl dead were at the top of their game from '67-70, in my opinion. Their maturing musicianship during that era was amazing to listen to, and overall a great experience.
great show! loved this version of Viola Lee!

Worst ever Dancing In The Street, other stuff pretty good!
Wow, Bobby is completely clueless rhythmically speaking on this Dancin'. Despite Pigpen and Jerry's best efforts Dancing is a sonic disaster of the first order, yikes. Well, it was new. The rest of the set runs from average to quite good however and makes up for Bob's butchering of Dancing. The Viola Lee Blues is outfrigginstanding with great playing by both Jerry and Pigpen as is the Alligator. The other version of this show has In The Midnight Hour which is left off here, I'm not sure why.
